About Me

From a young age, I have been fascinated by human nature. I remember being captivated by the complexity of the human body and by the remarkable way in which we are all woven together. I did not yet understand where that fascination would lead me, but I knew one thing: I wanted to work with people.

My own journey towards counselling was not a straight path. Growing up, I found myself in situations that challenged me emotionally and required me to navigate experiences that I did not always have the understanding or language to process. One of the most defining moments of my life came in late 2012, when I experienced a traumatic event that profoundly changed the way I viewed people, humanity and the responsibilities we sometimes carry for one another.

Closer to home, I often found myself being the person others turned to when they were struggling emotionally. I wanted to help, but I did not yet understand how. I knew that I cared deeply about people, but I also realised that caring alone was not enough. I needed to understand human behaviour, emotions and the complexities of what we carry beneath the surface.
This initially led me to study Business Management. Although that path was short-lived, it became an unexpected turning point. It was during this time that I realised that Psychology was where my fascination with human nature, my desire to serve others and my natural strengths could truly come together.

I pursued my studies in Psychology, and along the way, my own academic and personal challenges taught me something important: sometimes, the people who appear to be coping are carrying far more than others realise. My journey also introduced me to the importance of counselling and the different forms of professional support available to people. Completing the Humanitas Counselling Confidently course was particularly significant for me. It deepened my understanding of just how complex our individual realities can be, and how many people move through life carrying experiences, losses, fears and wounds that have never been given a voice. That realisation became central to the counsellor I wanted to become.
Today, as a Specialist Wellness Counsellor registered with the ASCHP, my purpose is to provide a space where people can be heard, understood and supported as they work through the things they have been carrying.

I am particularly drawn to working with people experiencing unvoiced emotional difficulties, trauma, grief, loss, life transitions and the challenges of discovering or rediscovering themselves. I believe that every person's story deserves to be approached with compassion rather than judgement. My counselling philosophy is firmly rooted in the person-centred approach, inspired by the work of Carl Rogers. I believe that genuine therapeutic connection begins with being present, authentic and congruent. Rather than seeing myself as someone who has all the answers, I see my role as walking alongside a person while they begin to understand their own experiences, strengths and possibilities.

Sometimes, what we hold onto can begin to shape the way we see ourselves, our relationships and our lives. With the right support and wise counsel, I believe that bringing those experiences into a safe and compassionate space can create an opportunity for a different perspective and, ultimately, for meaningful change.

Why Some Catharsis?

The word catharsis speaks to the release of deeply held emotion. For me, it represents the possibility that what has been carried silently does not always have to remain silent.  Some Catharsis was born from my belief that there is value in having a place where you can pause, speak honestly, be heard and begin to make sense of what you are carrying.

My faith is also an important part of who I am. I believe that life is a gift from God and that, even through difficult seasons, there can be opportunities to rediscover meaning, hope and gratitude. My role is not to tell you how your story should unfold. It is to meet you where you are, walk alongside you, and help create the space in which you can begin to understand where you have been, and where you would like to go next.

You do not have to carry everything alone.

Individual Counselling

Individual counselling provides a safe and confidential space to explore the experiences, emotions, relationships and challenges that shape your everyday life. My approach is person-centred, meeting you where you are and walking alongside you as you develop greater self-understanding, perspective and personal growth.

Trauma Counselling

Trauma counselling provides a supportive space to process experiences that may continue to affect how you feel, think, relate to others or understand yourself. I believe healing begins with safety, compassion and being heard, allowing you to work through what has happened at your own pace rather than allowing the experience to define your future.

Grief Counselling

Grief counselling offers a compassionate space to navigate the emotions and changes that accompany losing someone or something meaningful to you. I believe grief does not need to be rushed or "fixed"; instead, it can be gently understood and integrated as you learn to carry the loss while continuing to find meaning in life.

Adolescent Counselling

Adolescent counselling provides young people with a safe, supportive environment where they can express themselves, explore their emotions and navigate the challenges of growing into who they are. My philosophy is to listen without judgement and create a space where adolescents can feel respected, understood and empowered to develop their own voice.

Our Philosophy

At Some Catharsis, we believe that what we carry does not have to define where we are going. Our vision is to create a safe, compassionate space where individuals can acknowledge what they have been holding onto, give voice to experiences that may have remained unspoken, and begin to understand themselves with greater clarity and compassion.

Release. Transform. Renew. represents the journey we hope to walk alongside each person who enters our space.

Release what no longer needs to be carried alone.

Transform the way you understand your experiences, yourself and your possibilities.

Renew your perspective, your sense of purpose and your relationship with life.

We believe that meaningful change does not happen by erasing our stories, but by learning how to carry them differently, and discovering that there can still be hope, growth and purpose beyond them.
